Canberra officials plan to sit down with Hudson Young next week to discuss a revised four-year, $4.4 million deal.
The Raiders had already put forward a three-year deal worth $3.3 million, which was the most lucrative contract the club has offered a player.
However, sources with knowledge of the situation not authorised to speak publicly confirmed the Raiders are determined to keep Young from going on the open market on November 1 by adding a fourth year to their offer.
The new deal would run until the end of 2031. By that point, Young will have spent 12 years in Canberra.
