Brandon Smith's horror run with injuries continues, with a timeline being set on his calf injury in South Sydney Rabbitohs' win against the Melbourne Storm on Anzac Day last week.

Smith was strong in his two performances against the Raiders and the Dragons in his return fortnight after coming back from another preseason calf injury.

Although ESPN is reporting that he will miss a month on the sidelines after coming off the field prematurely last Saturday.

It is the same calf that kept him out of action for multiple weeks in the preseason, with coach Wayne Bennett giving an update on the Kiwi international.

Teenager Joey Walsh will make his NRL starting debut for Manly against Penrith after Jamal Fogarty's injury, facing Nathan Cleary.

    The Canberra Times

Kieran Foran has declared teenager Joey Walsh ready to start as an NRL half after Jamal Fogarty was ruled out of Manly's bumper clash against Penrith with a groin injury.

Walsh will on Sunday evening be handed one of the toughest starting debuts in the game, set to go head-to-head with Nathan Cleary at CommBank Stadium.

The Sea Eagles had given Fogarty until Saturday captain's run to prove his fitness and are hopeful he will face Brisbane next week after limping off late against Parramatta.

The 19-year-old Walsh is viewed as Manly's future, with the former Australian schoolboys rugby union representative playing 19 minutes off the bench on debut in Daly Cherry-Evans' farewell game at the end of last season.

Titans rookie Oliver Pascoe is set to squeeze premiership-winning hooker Sam Verrills out of the Gold Coast

Ollie Pascoe, a 26-year-old tradie, rises from Ipswich Jets to the Titans, becoming their fittest player and NRL hooker.

    The Australian

Fitness freak Ollie Pascoe is the 26-year-old tradie that is about to squeeze an NRL premiership-winning hooker out of the Gold Coast Titans.

Pascoe will make his fifth NRL appearance for the Titans against Canberra on Saturday at Cbus Super Stadium after coming from the clouds.

As recently as a year ago, Pascoe thought his dream of playing in the NRL had passed him by when he was running around for the Ipswich Jets in the Hostplus Cup and working as a tiler.

But he went on to be crowned the competition's player-of-the-year in 2025 and earned a train-and-trial opportunity with the Titans.

Pascoe turned that six-week pre-season shot into a cut-price NRL contract after becoming the fittest player at the Titans with his enormous aerobic engine.
