NSW coach Laurie Daley has confirmed that Ethan Strange will take on a role as a back-rower off the bench during Wednesday's State of Origin II at the MCG.

Strange had a standout performance in his debut as the Blues' five-eighth, stepping in for the injured Mitchell Moses (hamstring) during Origin I last month.

The Canberra Raiders talent made a significant impact by scoring a try in the Blues' thrilling come-from-behind 22-20 victory over Queensland in Sydney.

In preparation for taking on the Maroons in Origin II, Strange has been named on the Blues' interchange bench, while Moses is set to start, although his fitness remains uncertain.
