    Kangaroos Bounce to 3-0

    Queanbeyan Kangaroos defeat Queanbeyan Blues 22-16, improving to 3-0 and avenging last season's Grand Final loss.

    The Queanbeyan Kangaroos excellent start to the season continues with a 22-16 victory against the Queanbeyan Blues at Seiffert Oval this afternoon. 

    In a rematch of the last two Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup Grand Finals, the Queanbeyan Kangaroos extract revenge from last year's heartbreaking defeat in the last game of the season, grinding the Blues down in a physical contest. 

    The Blues started the better of the two sides, with the home side experiencing the better of the field position. 

    Needing to take advantage of the early field position it was dummy half, Zaen Edmonds who broke the deadlock and sliced through close to the line with an extravagant show and go, a successful conversion putting the Blues in front 6-0.

  • 'I'd rather go out a lion': President resigns after copping 15-year ban

    Goulburn Bulldogs president John Sykes received a 15-year ban for abusive conduct, resigning amid a major rugby league controversy.

    A club president says he deserves his 15-year ban, but he'd "rather be a lion" who'd done the right thing by his club "than a sheep".

    Goulburn Bulldogs president John Sykes has been forced to resign due to NSW Rugby League's whopping ban, with Sykes suspended for 10 years - until May 24, 2036 - before going onto a good-behaviour bond.

    The Canberra Raiders Cup club will hold an extraordinary general meeting on Monday to elect his replacement.

    "John Sykes is suspended from all rugby league activities from any official or unofficial alliance to any club for a period of 15 years," the notice of outcome said.
