    Former Dragons fullback earns head coaching role

    Adam Quinlan, ex-NRL player, appointed head coach of Queanbeyan Kangaroos for 2026 season.

    Adam Quinlan, a former NRL fullback for the St George Illawarra Dragons, has been handed a head coaching role for the upcoming 2026 season.

    Last playing in the NRL in 2016, Quinlan has been appointed as the new head coach of the Queanbeyan Kangaroos, who compete in the Canberra Raiders Cup.

    "Please join with us in congratulating and warmly welcoming our newly appointed 2026 First Grade Coach - Adam Quinlan," a statement from the Kangaroos read.

    "Adam needs no introduction. A former NRL player with over 100 first-grade appearances for St George Dragons, St Helens and Hull Kingston Rovers.

    Vale Paul Robertson

    Paul Robertson, a dedicated coach and community member, has sadly passed away in Canberra.

    Canberra Region Rugby League

    The CRRL is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Robertson. 

    After moving to Canberra in the early 1990s, Paul Robertson was an integral member of the Tuggeranong Rugby League community, coaching his sons Micheal, Adam and Brad at the Buffaloes and Dragons. 

    Along with coaching, Paul was an active member on the Valley Dragons committee, consistently volunteering his time for ground setup and any other jobs which required attention. 

    In 2003, Paul played an integral role in the establishment of the Tuggeranong Bushrangers where he was later recognised as a founding life member and held in high regard by all members of the community.

    ACT Policing investigates allegations against Canberra coach Ashley Barnes, whose appointment was blocked.

    ACT Policing is investigating allegations against the Canberra coach whose appointment was blocked by the governing body.

    The Canberra Times can reveal the police were investigating an alleged incident involving Ashley Barnes that occurred at a licensed club in Civic in September last year.

    It comes after the Woden Valley Rams signed Barnes as head coach for the 2026 Canberra Raiders Cup season - only for the NSW Rugby League to step in and prevent him from being registered.
