    Veteran prop Josh Papalii has been taking a leaf out of his younger teammates' playbook ahead of Canberra's finals campaign.

    The Raiders scored a historic win against Wests Tigers in front of a sold-out crowd on Saturday, sealing their first minor premiership in 35 years.

    A rocky performance from Ricky Stuart's men brought a 24-10 win over the Tigers, who had nothing to lose after watching their top-eight hopes evaporate.

    Canberra Raiders head coach Ricky Stuart has revealed he will rest players for next weekend's clash with the Dolphins.

    In a move that could have finals ramifications for the bottom of the top eight, the minor premiers will give the players that need it a week off.

    Instead, a number of players who are, in his words "banged up and need a rest" will have a breather before preparing for their opening week qualifying final, to be held at GIO Stadium in Canberra against a yet to be confirmed opponent.

    News Corp were reporting the Raiders will hand at least six players a rest including Kaeo Weekes.

    In 1990, the Raiders won their first minor premiership; current players weren't yet born.

    When the Canberra Raiders won their first minor premiership in 1990, none of the current playing group were alive.

    The oldest current player is Josh Papalii, who was born in 1992.

    The Raiders clinched the JJ Giltinan Shield in front of a sold-out crowd of 23,746 fans at GIO Stadium on Saturday 29 August with a 24-10 victory over the Wests Tigers.

    When asked if it blew his mind that none of the players were alive 35 years ago when the team's first shield was secured, winger Jed Stuart said it was "pretty crazy".

    "My old man (current coach and former Raiders player Ricky Stuart) was a part of it, so that's pretty cool and pretty special," he told CD...
