The Canberra Raiders, who claimed this year's NRL minor premiership by a whopping four competition points, have been abandoned and snubbed in 2026 premiership betting by all major Australian betting agencies.

This is a punting wipe out for the Raiders.

"We don't give a rat's arse," said three-time Raiders grand final winner Steve Walters. "Favourites don't always win. Queensland has been winning State of Origin for 30 years and they're never favourites. Bookies aren't good judges.

"Yeah, it's, umm," the Australian Prime Minister's XIII and Kangaroos prospect said before pausing.

Australian Kangaroos head coach Kevin Walters has confirmed his 24-man squad for the Ashes tour of England.

Seven debutants have been made to make the trip halfway around the world for the first bi-lateral series against England in more than two decades, with the finals series playing a heavy role.

The squad, which was originally set to be 22, was expanded to 24 with the Kangaroos including Ethan Strange and extra depth options in the squad after his barnstorming season with the Canberra Raiders.

Walters, who admitted he will have selection headaches without a warm-up game, also admitted the squad was hard to pick.
