The Sydney Roosters have reportedly given Sandon Smith permission to leave the club.

Channel 9's Michael Chammas revealed the news on 100% Footy on Monday night.

"He's been in conversations with the Canberra Raiders," he said.

"The Raiders are looking at some depth. I don't know if it will play out that way, whether or not he wants to go somewhere and start.

"Options are limited."

Smith's looming exit comes ahead of Daly Cherry-Evans' expected arrival at the Roosters next season.
