The obvious open market target for the Canberra Raiders
Canberra must strengthen its forward stocks amid squad uncertainty, losing key players and needing to target top forwards in November.

Canberra has been urged to heavily invest in strengthening its forward stocks as the club heads into a period of concern and uncertainty regarding its squad options.
With the Raiders losing Jayden Brailey (Wests Tigers), Corey Horsburgh (Perth Bears), Josh Papalii (retired) and Morgan Smithies (Perth Bears), as well as question marks over Hudson Young and Joe Tapine beyond next year, Canberra "have got a lot to work out" in their squad build.
Canberra has signed prop duo Lipoi Hopoi and Jiayden Hunt from Canterbury and Brisbane respectively, however the fringe pair aren't expected to move the needle too far in 2027.
Speaking on the NRL Contract Show, Scott Pryde raised his concerns with the Raiders' forward pack depth, highlighting the need for the Green Machine to "attack" the best forwards on the open market come November 1.

Why Roosters star answered England call for RLWC
Jasmin Strange, Sydney Roosters star, will represent England at the Rugby League World Cup, following a call-up after coaching by her father.

Jasmin Strange has spent most of her NRLW career coached by her dad, which is why the prospect of representing England proved irresistible for the Sydney Roosters star.
After booking a spot in Sunday's grand final with coach and father John, the Roosters second-rower has earned her maiden England call-up for this year's Rugby League World Cup.
It comes after Strange's brother, Canberra Raiders star Ethan, rejected a call to play for England, holding out hope of selection for the Kangaroos.
The Strange siblings qualify for England through mother Adele and are eligible to represent New Zealand through father John.

England name Raiders star in World Cup squad
England's women select five Australian NRLW players for the 2026 World Cup, marking a historic inclusion.

England's women will include Australian-based heritage players at a World Cup for the first time, with five NRLW stars selected for the 2026 tournament.
Coach Stuart Barrow's 23-player squad features Sydney Roosters second-rower Jasmin Strange, Canterbury Bulldogs prop Hope Millard, Newcastle Knights playmaker Georgia Roche, North Queensland fullback Fran Goldthorp and Canberra Raiders forward Hollie-Mae Dodd.
Strange, 23, is eligible for Australia, England and New Zealand but told Barrow she wanted to represent England, citing her family ties.
She is preparing for her fourth consecutive NRLW grand final, against the Broncos on Sunday.
