‘I like Corey’: Ricky lifts lid on Horsburgh fallout, reacts to exit rumours on another Raiders star

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart maintains his positive relationship with Corey Horsburgh, who is rested after a setback against the Knights.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart insists his relationship with fiery forward Corey Horsburgh hasn't changed this week and that there are no ill-feelings towards the prop who has been "rested" following his brain explosion against the Knights last week.

Horsburgh was sent to the sin bin for lashing out at Knights veteran Dane Gagai which reversed a penalty that would have tied things up for Canberra in their hunt for the finals.

His moment of madness earned him a fine from the match review committee and a post-game bake from Stuart who left him out of the squad to face the Sharks on Saturday.

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart states prop Corey Horsburgh hasn't requested a transfer, denying rumours amid controversy over a recent game incident.

    The Canberra Times

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart insists there's no bad blood between him and prop Corey Horsburgh, saying the forward hasn't approached him about a move to a rival NRL club.

Horsburgh has been at the centre of a storm after the Raider made a brain-snap decision to slap Newcastle centre Dane Gagai in the club's 30-24 loss to the Knights last Sunday.

It prompted an explosive press conference from Stuart, who called the strike a "f***king brain explosion" and said the forward's choice had cost the Green Machine (9-12) their finals spot.

Horsburgh was then dropped for the Raiders' clash against Cronulla on Saturday before rumours surfaced the forward was bound for the Perth Bears next season.

But Stuart, fronting the media for the first time since his post-match press conference, insisted Horsburgh hadn't informed him of a move to the West Australian club.

"I keep hearing Perth, but I was talking to Corey yesterday and he hasn't mentioned anything to me," Stuart told reporters on Friday.

    The Canberra Times

Canberra's cold weather has proven a challenge for Sheridan Gallagher after three years lapping up Newcastle's beachside lifestyle.
