Canberra Raiders seek lessons for 2026 after missing finals; Jonah Pezet eyed as Fogarty replacement.

After falling short of a preliminary finals berth despite their first-place finish in 2025, the Canberra Raiders are hoping to take some lessons into next year.
While they will be hoping to replicate their regular-season form in 2026, they'll be without their star halfback, with Jamal Fogarty off to the Manly Sea Eagles.
Melbourne Storm star Jonah Pezet has been identified as the ideal replacement for Fogarty, with the young halfback eyeing a move from Victoria following the re-signing of Jahrome Hughes.
Contracted until 2029, Pezet has been granted permission to look elsewhere due to the logjam at halfback, even if just for a season on a loan deal.

Sharks star escapes suspension after major finals upset
Raiders upset Sharks in finals; Toby Rudolf charged with a high tackle, fined $1000.

Saturday night's clash between the Canberra Raiders and Cronulla Sharks produced the biggest upset of the 2025 season so far, with the minor premiers being bounced out of the finals in straight sets.
The match was a fiery one, with multiple players being pulled up by officials throughout the game.
Sharks prop Toby Rudolf was the likeliest to be suspended; however, it has been revealed that he will be free to play in his side's preliminary final against the Melbourne Storm next week.
Rudolf has been charged with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle and will be fined $1000. Should he dispute the penalty and fail, his fine will be increased to $1500.

It was a run which many did not expect to see this season but the Raiders went from failing to make the eight just 12 months ago to being crowned the minor premiers.
But a 20-point loss to the Sharks left Canberra stunned as they became the first team since 2009 to win the minor premiership and be knocked out in straight sets.
