Watch: Isaiya Katoa leads Dolphins to record-breaking fourth straight win over Raiders

Isaiya Katoa shines in Dolphins' 30-22 win, hinting at a future State of Origin role despite current star Nathan Cleary.

    The Australian

There will come a time in the not too distant future when this time of year will see Dolphins' star Isaiya Katoa focused on playing State of Origin for NSW.

Nathan Cleary might be the Blues' number seven for as long as he is fit and wants to be, but there is no doubt Katoa's time will come.

Until then, coach Kristian Woolf and his team will savour every minute they can with Katoa after the halfback had his fingerprints on everything to lead the undermanned Phins' to a 30-22 victory over the Raiders in Canberra on Thursday night.

Missing Origin bound quartet Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo, Max Plath and Tom Flegler, along with the injured Herbie Farnworth and Kodi Nikorima, the Phins won for the fourth time on the trot, a first for the club.

Despite both sides missing plenty of high priced cattle, it was an entertaining game. The first half produced seven tries - four to the Dolphins and three to the Raiders, the second just one apiece.

  • Origin outs and injury news force big changes to Raiders and Dolphins squads

The Raiders face the Dolphins, both missing key players due to State of Origin and injuries, complicating predictions for the match.

    The Canberra Times

The Raiders take on the in-form Dolphins with both sides losing star players through State of Origin selection.

The visitors are chasing their club's first-ever fourth-straight NRL victory, but in Canberra they'll be without Maroons Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo, Thomas Flegler and Max Plath. And centre Herbie Farnworth and five-eighth Kodi Nikorima are also ruled out with hamstring injuries.

Meanwhile, the Raiders have to move back into the winner's circle without Blues back-rower Hudson Young and Origin debutant five-eighth Ethan Strange, though Xavier Savage returns on the wing after recovering from an ankle injury.

The Origin and injuries impacts forced a reshuffle for each NRL squad, and a debut for 20-year-old Raiders forward Jordan Uta, making this a hard one to predict a winner.

The Dolphins face a significant setback as they prepare for their match against the Canberra Raiders on Thursday night, as star outside back Herbie Farnworth has been ruled out.

Initially, Farnworth was named in the squad for the round 12 clash in the nation's capital on Tuesday afternoon.

According to 9 News Queensland, the English centre experienced hamstring tightness following the Magic Round.

As a result, he is undergoing a modified training program this week, with the club prioritizing his health.
