Cowboys' Jake Clifford is a potential target for Raiders; no deals finalized; Ilias also considered.

Cowboys half Jake Clifford is one of a number of playmakers Ricky Stuart has spoken to, but the Canberra Raiders coach said nothing has been finalised.

It's believed out-of-favour St George Illawarra No.7 Lachlan Ilias is another the Green Machine is keeping an eye on.

While Clifford's been named as North Queensland five-eighth to face the Gold Coast Titans this week, he hasn't been able to nail down a starting spot and had been linked with a move to the English Super League at the end of the year.

Despite having the toughest travel schedule in the NRL - with daylight a distant second - the Canberra Raiders are aiming for their seventh straight away win when they travel to Newcastle to face the Knights on Friday.

That's despite travelling to almost every corner of Australia - plus Las Vegas and New Zealand - with not only the most kilometres, but most travel hours of any other NRL team.

Cameron Ciraldo is considering multiple strategies for Lachlan Galvin's role against the Panthers.

Cameron Ciraldo hasn't given up too much about Lachlan Galvin's role in Thursday's game against the Panthers, but said there are multiple plans on how he can use the former Tigers playmaker.

"He's there as a bit of insurance for our backs, and if an opportunity arises somewhere else, he's been training in a number of positions.

Galvin starred off the bench in the Bulldogs' win over the Eels and then started with Matt Burton on Origin duty when the ladder leaders toppled the Rabbitohs.

While there may be plenty of external noise surrounding Galvin's role, Ciraldo is more than happy to have the headache of trying to figure out how to fit him in along with Toby Sexton, Reed Mahoney and Bailey Hayward.

"I've probably got plan A, plan B and plan C again," Ciraldo said when asked how he'd use Galvin this week.
