Canberra Raiders winger Savelio Tamale is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after suffering a gruesome leg injury during his side's clash with the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Sunday afternoon in the nation's capital.

Letting in the first tries of the game, Tamale had his leg caught awkwardly under a three-man tackle during the 15th minute of the game.

Instead, it's now believed he has suffered a displacement of the knee cap.

Cody Walker injured his groin in South Sydney's 36-12 loss to the Raiders, who celebrated Josh Papalii's milestone.

South Sydney five-eighth Cody Walker suffered a fresh injury blow in his side's heavy defeat to the Raiders on Sunday, hurting his groin in his return from a five-game stint on the sidelines.

Walker limped off with a groin injury in the 57th minute of the clash in Canberra, won by the hosts 36-12 as Josh Papalii played his 319th NRL game to become the most capped Raider of all time.

On a fairytale afternoon for Papalii and the Raiders faithful, "Big Papa" barged over for two tries late in the final 10 minutes of the game.
