Last month, I compared the Raiders' young talent to past legends; they're showing great potential collectively.

It was only last month that I wrote about the Canberra Raiders, comparing their current crop of outstanding youngsters with the players that came through in the late 80s and spawned the Green Machine era.
I second-guessed the comparison numerous times given those young men Tim Sheens brought through contained names like Lazarus, Clyde and Daley.
But watching the Raiders' performance since, I have no hesitation in making the comparison.

Rookie of the Year candidate enters talks over new contract
Savelio Tamale, a top rookie, is negotiating a contract extension with the Raiders until 2028.

One of the favourites to claim the 2025 Dally M Rookie of the Year award, Savelio Tamale has reportedly entered talks over a new contract after an outstanding start to the season.
Arriving at the nation's capital at the start of the season, Tamale has been one of the Raiders' best players in 2025 and has been key to seeing them rise to second place on the NRL ladder.
Formerly with the St George Illawarra Dragons, Tamale is contracted until the end of 2026 at the Raiders, but the club have now opened talks with him to extend his tenure until the end of the 2028 NRL season, per News Corp.
