Ethan Sanders is ready to replace Jamal Fogarty, who is uncertain for Sunday's match against the Rabbitohs.

The Canberra Raiders are keeping Ethan Sanders sharp and on standby for a possible late call-up at halfback with Jamal Fogarty still tentative to play this Sunday afternoon against the Rabbitohs.

Sanders trained in full on Wednesday while Fogarty only had a very light session, after missing the round 13 Roosters game with a groin issue.

With a much-needed bye following the Raiders' upcoming blockbuster against South Sydney, it was a surprise to many Green Machine fans to see Fogarty named at No.7 when the team lists were revealed.

Joseph Tapine's tears reflect his emotional distance from his gang member father.

Joseph Tapine's tears are for a man he isn't in touch with these days.

"He was in Black Power, which was one of the main gangs back home," Tapine, one of rugby league's elite front-row enforcers, told Jake Duke on Fox League's Face to Face.

They are for his dad.

Tapine had a humble childhood in Wellington, New Zealand, with a hard-working mum and no family car; he didn't learn to drive until he met his wife, Kirsten. He and his big brother and sister walked themselves to school and footy training, or took the bus. They knew no better and were happy.

His father was a gang member.

Lehi Hopoate enters NRL MVP top ten; Tedesco maintains lead, while Gutherson and Koloamatangi rise.

Zero Tackle

A perfect 20 votes has allowed Manly Sea Eagles young gun Lehi Hopoate to storm into the top ten of Zero Tackle's NRL MVP for the first time this year.

At the top end of town, it was James Tedesco who has increased his lead out to 14 votes, with the Sydney Roosters polling 17 despite his side losing to the Canberra Raiders.

A super game from Clint Gutherson has him into fifth spot on the standings, while Keaon Koloamatangi has also made tracks up to sixth place.
