Queensland coach Billy Slater praised Newcastle Knights star Kalyn Ponga, indirectly sending a message to Maroons incumbent Reece Walsh, as the race for the state fullback jersey heats up.
Ponga's stellar performance against the Dolphins showcased his growing influence as captain, leading his team to victory in the first two rounds of the NRL season.
On the other hand, Walsh's performance for the Broncos in round one was impressive, but he struggled against the Raiders, raising doubts about his ability to retain his Origin position.
Queensland legend Darren Lockyer hinted that Walsh may have fallen down the pecking order among elite NRL fullbacks.

Canberra Raiders duo Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies fined by NRL over Las Vegas hotel stoush
Canberra players fined for fighting in Las Vegas, apologized and had some fines suspended by NRL.

Canberra pair Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies have been fined by the NRL over their stoush in Las Vegas.
The pair were issued with a breach notice on Monday alleging that the pair breached the NRL Code of Conduct after coming to blows in the lift of the team hotel in Sin City.
Smithies and Young apologised in the aftermath, which helped mitigate some of the financial penalty.
However, the pair were issued with fines, although it is understood some or all of the fines were suspended.
"The breach notice alleges the players engaged in conduct which has brought the game and their club into disrepute," the NRL said.

NRL has issued breach notices to Canberra Raiders players Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies following an off-field incident in Las Vegas.
The players allegedly got into a scuffle at the team hotel after facing technology issues during check-in.
The NRL has accused the players of bringing the game into disrepute and will withhold details of the penalty until the players have a chance to respond.
In a statement, the NRL said, "The National Rugby League (NRL) today issued Canberra Raiders players Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies with a Breach Notice alleging a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct."
