PLAYER OF THE ROUND: Jack Wighton helped Canberra overcome a Cody Walker-inspired fightback in his first game against South Sydney since signing a contract to join the Redfern club from 2024. After the Raiders lost Corey Harawira-Naera in confronting scenes, Wighton set up the match-winning try by breaching the defence and sending the ball left to his flying outside men.

The decision of when Jarrod Croker would play his 300^th NRL game was taken out of the Canberra Raiders co-captain's hands, with key figures at the club deciding to rest him so it would be played at home.

Croker will miss the clash against Wests Tigers at Campbelltown on Friday and will have to wait until the following week for his milestone game - against the New Zealand Warriors at Canberra Stadium Friday week.

He'll spend the week off getting his body as "fit and ready as possible", despite getting through the emotional win over South Sydney with nothing more serious than a massive black eye.

Canberra forward Corey Harawira-Naera is hoping to return to the field as soon as possible after being discharged from hospital following his mid-game seizure.

Harawira-Naera says he is "on the mend" but "not in the clear yet" and will undergo further tests to get to the bottom of the frightening incident at Sydney's Accor Stadium.

Shortly after taking a hit-up in the second half against South Sydney on Saturday night, Harawira-Naera appeared to become disoriented and fell to the turf.
