    Hudson Young will miss Friday's game due to an ongoing groin issue and upcoming State of Origin.

    The Canberra Raiders will be without one of their standout players on Friday night against the Newcastle Knights.

    NSW Blues back-rower and Maitland product Hudson Young has been rested from round 17 of the NRL, with game three of the State of Origin series next week.

    Young has been managing an "ongoing groin issue", and his absence in the upcoming game at his hometown in Newcastle forced some changes to the Raiders team naming on Tuesday.

    James Tedesco's 16-vote performance extends his NRL MVP lead, while Joseph Tapine enters the top ten.

    Sydney Roosters star fullback James Tedesco has used a 16-vote performance in Round 16 to further extend his lead at the top of Zero Tackle's NRL MVP.

    The fullback's performance pushed him another nine votes ahead of Terrell May, with the Wests Tigers prop clinging onto second, but now a distant 26 votes behind Tedesco.

    Canberra forward Joseph Tapine was another bigger mover, sneaking into the bottom of the top ten after a 16-vote performance.
