    Early Mail round 15: Sam Walker returns to the field after ACL injury

    Sam Walker returned safely from ACL injury, playing 40 minutes in NSWRL game against Parramatta.

    Sydney Roosters halfback Sam Walker made a successful - and safe - return to rugby league on Sunday.

    After a 10-month recovery from an ACL injury, Walker, 22, returned in the Roosters' NSWRL game against Parramatta at Kellyville Park.

    Walker played 40 minutes before being replaced by young Toby Rodwell.

    Roosters coach Trent Robinson will now decide whether to rush Walker back into his starting side for Saturday's away match against Newcastle.

    Walker has not played since last September after rupturing an ACL in his left knee during a match against Canberra.

    Josh Papalii broke the Raiders' appearance record, leading them to a 36-12 victory over Souths.

    It was billed as Josh Papalii's record breaking party at GIO Stadium and celebrate the hardy Canberra faithful did as the Raiders moved to the top of the NRL ladder.

    Fan favourite Papalii ran out for his 319th appearance to go past Jason Croker as the club's most capped player and Canberra came from behind yet again to topple Souths 36-12.

    In fairytale fashion Papalii sealed the win with two tries in the last 10 minutes, the 66th and 67th four pointers of his storied career - a record for a front rower. He even converted the second.
