LUAI'S QUESTIONABLE ACT

Jarome Luai has escaped suspension after the NSW five-eighth was put on report for his facial on Queensland forward Reuben Cotter.

Luai was charged by the match review committee over the incident but was only hit with a fine, clearing him to back-up for club side Wests Tigers against Canberra on Friday.

It also means the lippy playmaker will be available for selection for the decider in Sydney in three weeks time.

Heath Mason secures a new contract with Wests Tigers, joining the Top 30 roster and evolving as a player.

Gifted a spot in the starting halves with Jarome Luai over the past few weeks, Wests Tigers young gun Heath Mason has landed a new contract that will keep him at the club.

One of the next generation of players emerging from the Wests Tigers system, Mason has continued to evolve his game over the past few years, progressing from the Harold Matthews Cup to the top grade at just 19 years old.

The new deal will also see him upgraded to the club's Top 30 roster effective immediately ahead of their match on Friday evening against the Canberra Raiders.

A magistrate condemned spectator violence after sentencing Mesepa Salesa for attacking players at a rugby game.

Violence inflicted by spectators at sports games "must be deterred", a magistrate said when sentencing the wife of a Canberra Raiders legend for attacking two female rugby league players on a football field.

Raiders' prop Josh Papali'i raised his middle finger towards the media outside the ACT Magistrates Court when he was driving his car away after his wife, Mesepa Salesa, was sentenced on Wednesday (18 June).

In July 2024, Salesa was watching a rugby league game at the Kippax Raiders Club in Holt when a 17-year-old was sent off the field.
