    A stunning start to climb to second on the NRL ladder has turned the Green Machine into the Hype Machine.

    And that hype's only going to build over the next two weeks as Canberra Raiders great Josh Papali'i draws level with and then hopefully goes past Jason Croker's club games record.

    But is the hype affecting the Raiders ahead of their clash with the hot-and-cold Sydney Roosters at Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday?

    Canberra's strong start in the NRL State of Origin could lead to a serious premiership challenge.

    Canberra began the State of Origin period of the NRL season in fine style last weekend and if they can now get the next seven rounds right they will be poised to launch a genuine premiership challenge.

    The Raiders look the real deal to me already in terms of being capable of winning the competition.

    I wouldn't say that if Penrith, Melbourne and Brisbane were all flexing their muscles because that would be a hell of a lot to deal with for a team of mostly promising young players and a hard core of experience that is on the way up.
