NRL to continue in Darwin as new club lands agreement

The Dolphins signed a new deal for an annual NRL game in Darwin, continuing their partnership.

    Zero Tackle

The Dolphins have announced they have signed a new agreement with the Northern Territory government to ensure an NRL game continues to be played in the top end each year.

The Parramatta Eels, who hosted the Dolphins in Darwin in 2024, have called the city one of their home grounds for the last 12 years, but the agreement comes to an end this year, with the last game there pitting them against the Canberra Raiders.

The Dolphins already split their home games, with ten in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium, and two in Redcliffe at what is currently known as Kayo Stadium.

  • 'He would be a fantastic appointment': Mal would go west with Raiders blessing

Mal Meninga is likely to coach the Bears, starting recruitment in November for the 2027 season.

    The Canberra Times

There's no hands-off edict or even any Canberra Raiders concerns Perth coach-in-waiting Mal Meninga will dine out on the Green Machine like a ravenous Bear that's just awoken from hibernation.

Meninga is tipped to be the inaugural Bears coach, with the NRL expansion team set to join the competition in 2027.

That means Perth and Meninga, if his appointment is finalised as expected, can start recruiting from November 1.

Blunt Cleary addresses shock call to axe Panthers star: NRL Early Mail

Panthers coach Ivan Cleary dropped consistent performer Paul Alamoti for Casey McLean ahead of Sunday's derby.

    Fox League

Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has addressed the decision to drop Paul Alamoti ahead of Sunday's Western Sydney derby against Parramatta.

While it would make sense to keep McLean in the team if Penrith was looking towards the future, the fact Cleary has named all his Origin players to back up suggests he is instead simply looking to name the best possible 17.

Alamoti has been one of Penrith's more consistent performers this season, with his yardage carries particularly valuable when Brian To'o was out injured while he has also been a reliable finisher on the wing.

However, in a big call, Cleary decided to dump Alamoti to the reserves and retain youngster Casey McLean, who has shown flashes in attack but has been guilty of holding onto the ball too often instead of passing to open wingers.
