Jayden Campbell's ankle injury rocks Gold Coast as Titans await scan results ahead of upcoming match.

An ankle injury at training to halfback Jayden Campbell has rocked Gold Coast ahead of their home clash with in-form Canberra.

The 25-year-old has been ruled out of Sunday's clash as the Titans sweat on scan results to determine the length of his absence.

Campbell has been the Titans' most consistent and best player in the opening rounds and, with veteran playmaker Kieran Foran (biceps) and former Wallabies No.10 Carter Gordon (back) both still on the injured list, the club is now skinny in the halves.

Manly coach Seibold frustrated over grueling schedule with three games in 11 days, highlighting player welfare concerns.

Manly coach Anthony Seibold has every reason to complain about the club's brutal draw that has included three games in 11 days, the latest a two-point loss to the Dragons on Thursday night.

"The NRL has never been more demanding and we talk about player welfare and wellbeing and so on and I just don't understand how … not only five games in 25 days but three in 11 days," Seibold said after his side's 20-18 loss to the Dragons on Thursday night.

"I see it's the same at other clubs, the Raiders, the Sharks … but just look at us for a minute. Three games in 11 days then we lose two days going to Perth, it's a five-hour trip...

NRL considers free agency overhaul after contract disputes, but system remains unchanged despite concerns.

A trio of contract bombshells has forced the NRL to consider a drastic overhaul of its free agency system, but one coach fears the "ugly look for our game" will never change.

The NRL news cycle has been dominated by player negotiations, million-dollar deals and has promoted a renewed push for a transfer window or trade period to avoid similar distractions in the future.

But despite Ricky Stuart joining Immortal Andrew Johns and Wayne Bennett in voicing concerns for players and fans, the system is set to remain as is despite the Dylan Brown, Daly Cherry-Evans and Lachlan Galvin drama.
