    In Canberra sport, being the son of one of the Raiders' greatest is akin to being the offspring of a Beatle. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but you know what I'm getting at.

    The comparisons to a well-known parent and the standards by which an offspring is graded are, in many respects, a reason to avoid embarking on the same career. And if the same career is pursued, comparisons can be a considerable burden.

    In the case of Jed Stuart, the son of Raiders legend and current coach Ricky, there has been a determination to forge his own path.

    The Raiders' 30-8 win over the Warriors in Las Vegas may have surprised the experts outside Canberra, but inside the 'Canberra bubble' expectations have been high with the emergence of a number of young players blooded in first grade over the past 12 months.

    The element of youth brings with it enthusiasm, energy and pace, mixed with plenty of 50/50 plays, and this was on display in the victory over the Warriors as the Raiders built their game...

  • The Raiders are heading into unknown territory after ambushing the Broncos

    Pundits called Raiders' win over Broncos an ambush, with lesser-known players outplaying big-name opponents.

    The pundits have described the Raiders' 32-22 victory over the Brisbane Broncos as an ambush in the nation's capital.

    In other words, the big-name Broncos players touted as capable of carrying Brisbane to the premiership this year came up against a team with players of a lesser profile and left Canberra Stadium empty handed after being completely outplayed.

    The Raiders were also without Joe Tapine and Xavier Savage, who were instrumental in the Raiders' first round victory over the Warriors in Las Vegas.
