    Raiders bring Broncos back to earth with impressive win

    Canberra Raiders dominate early, Broncos make a comeback with Jesse Arthars scoring twice.

    The Canberra Raiders started fast in front of their home fans despite an early few minutes of pressure from the Broncos when Matty Nicholson broke through some soft defence to score. The Green machine extended their lead when fan favourite Josh Papali'I was able to get over after Seb Kris knocked the ball backwards and the Raiders big man scored under the posts.

    The Broncos showed their class making a comeback with a 10 minute double to Jesse Arthars, the first coming when he just burrowed with power at the line and got it down despite the attention of three defenders whilst the second saw a peach of a pass find Arthars from Ben Hunt to score in the corner.

    But Maguire was left to taste his first defeat as Broncos coach at the hands of his former Canberra teammate and now Raiders mentor Ricky Stuart, who masterminded a brilliant capital raid.

    Raiders fans booed referee Wyatt Raymond, and coach Ricky Stuart looked filthy on the sideline after the Broncos were not penalised for an elbow to the throat.

    Brisbane backrower Jordan Riki carted the ball up in the nation's capital on Saturday night when he lifted his left arm to shield himself.

    His forearm and elbow made contact with the throat of Canberra star Hudson Young, who reeled away from the contest and fell to his knees.
