Ricky Stuart moves Ethan Strange to centres to cover Rapana's absence due to concussion.

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has shifted NRL rookie-of-the-year-contender Ethan Strange to the centres as part of a backline reshuffle to cover the loss of Jordan Rapana.

Rapana's been ruled out of their trip to Townsville to play North Queensland on Saturday due to concussion, after he failed his head injury assessment in the first half of Canberra's loss to Manly last weekend.

With Rapana going into the 11-day stand-down, Sebastian Kris has shifted to the wing with Strange moving from five-eighth to play alongside him at centre.

Annesley defends NRL decision against Raiders, admits mistake, supports ruling on Fogarty tackle. Raiders struggle.

NRL head of football Graham Annesley has defended the decision that robbed the Canberra Raiders of a crucial try, admitting it was wrong but declaring the referee had no option but to stop play.

In what will be a frustrating postscript to a result that put the Raiders' finals bid on life support, Annesley also backed the ruling that Jamal Fogarty wasn't put in a dangerous position in a second-half tackle.

It would be unfair to lump all of the Raiders' problems on refereeing decisions after they slumped to a loss to Manly, conceding 40 points or more at home for the third time this season.

Canberra Raiders celebrate Papali'i, but focus on winning against Cowboys for playoffs.

The Canberra Raiders made the past two weeks special for Josh Papali'i, but his only focus is on getting his beloved Green Machine on an end-of-season roll.

Now the Raiders great says they have to turn things around against the Cowboys or it's "goodbye" to their season.

The Raiders rolled out the red carpet at Canberra Stadium on Saturday to honour Papali'i in his first home game since reaching the 300-game milestone last weekend.
