    'We're starting our run': Young reveals injury struggle and NRL finals plans

    Canberra Raiders star Hudson Young admits he hasn't been playing to his usual standards in recent weeks, but after the bye, he is determined to rediscover the form that earned him a Blues jersey just last month.

    Young picked up a grade one groin strain playing for NSW in the State of Origin opener on June 5, and though he's been able to play in subsequent games for the Raiders, the 26-year-old has been far from his best.

    But with two weeks on the sideline Young is confident he can help lead the Raiders to a strong finish to the season - and even finals footy.

    The Canberra Raiders have confirmed the signing of Matty Nicholson for the 2025 NRL season.

    At just 20 years of age, Nicholson, a second-rower, has already made his debut for the England national team and has 33 appearances under his belt for the Warrington Wolves in the Super League.

    The Raiders have made no secret in recent times of their desire to add edge forwards to their roster given Whitehead's impending retirement and the continuing uncertainty around the future of Corey Harawira-Naera.

    As one English forward calls time on his Raiders career, another is set to begin his own NRL dream.

    Promising second-rower Matty Nicholson will tread the well-worn path from England's Super League to Canberra in 2025 after signing a three-year contract with the club on Friday.

    At age 20, the Warrington Wolves starter is already an England international and he will provide some much-needed cover for Ricky Stuart's forward pack after skipper Elliott Whitehead announced 2024 will be his last year at the club.
