    Surprise plan for Raiders star as Canberra connection revives career

    Hudson Young gains confidence with NSW coach's guidance, aims to repay faith in Origin.

    Hudson Young isn't the type of player who lacks confidence, but having the NSW coach in his corner helped provide a blueprint to complete his Origin redemption.

    Young revealed that former Raiders coach consultant Michael Maguire gave the 25-year-old guidance this season before he was named on the Blues bench for game one at Homebush.

    Now he wants to repay Maguire's faith, and the pair's connection at Raiders training could pave the way for Young to be the Blues' Mr Fix It in the opener.

    Borthwick re-signs as Raiders NRLW coach

    The Canberra Raiders have re-signed NRLW coach Darrin Borthwick on a new three-year deal, which will see him remain as coach of the side until the end of the 2027 NRLW season.

    Borthwick coached the club's inaugural NRLW side last year, who had a successful first season, just missing out on making finals.

    Borthwick said he's excited to continue his role for an additional three years post this season.

    Despite expectations, the Canberra Raiders struggle at home but perform well in away games.

    The home ground is expected to provide fortress-like protection against visiting teams. For the Canberra Raiders this season, GIO Stadium is proving to be anything but.

    This is a conundrum given the idea that the cool conditions, the raucous home crowd, the travel and the Viking Clap are supposed to provide a cauldron-like atmosphere for opposition teams.

    The Raiders' best performances this season have been away with victories over Newcastle, Manly and the Bulldogs. Although, admittedly, the Bulldogs game in Brisbane was an away game for both sides in Magic Round.
