The Canberra Raiders are heading into the second half with only 11 players on the field, with two of the side's most experienced players sent to the bin for professional fouls.

Following a strong start from the Raiders in the Magic Round opener, both Jordan Rapana and Josh Papalii were given marching orders just four minutes apart.

The Raiders were leading before the pair being sent to the bin but we head into half-time trailing by two against the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs are gearing up for a showdown with the Raiders in the NRL's Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium, and Head Coach Cameron Ciraldo has locked in his final squad for the game.

In a strategic move, Josh Curran will be starting in the backrow, bringing some serious muscle to the team in place of Salmon.

Poasa Fa'amausili, a 26-year-old prop, will also be coming off the interchange to add some extra oomph to the forward pack.

Kurtis Morrin, a local talent, has been a standout defensive player for the Bulldogs this season, making an impressive 60 tackles per game with a 90% success rate.

Canberra Raiders face Canterbury Bulldogs in Magic Round opener, despite mixed form without key players.

    Zero Tackle

The Canberra Raiders and Canterbury Bulldogs will open Magic Round for the second year in a row, with the two sides to do battle on Friday evening.

The game will be held on Friday, May 17, with kick-off set for 6pm (AEST) at Suncorp Stadium.

Canberra have been difficult to get a read on, however. Forced to play, for the time being, without injured veteran halfback Jamal Fogarty, the green machine had fallen to the Cronulla Sharks 40-0 the week prior, but still sit inside the top eight heading into Round 11 with a five-and-four record.
