The Canberra Raiders were visibly frustrated when the Sydney Roosters were awarded a controversial penalty try during Saturday afternoon's game.
The contentious incident occurred in the 10th minute when Luke Keary chased a grubber close to the try line and was slightly impeded by Morgan Smithies' minimal contact.
Despite the contact, Keary was still able to make a clean attempt at grounding the ball.
Referee Todd Smith referred the decision to the Bunker, which ruled that Keary would have scored the try if not for Smithies' contact.
This ruling left Elliot Whitehead and the large crowd of Canberra supporters frustrated and stunned by the Bunker's blunder, resulting in the Raiders falling behind by 12 points early on.
Throughout the match, the Roosters showcased impressive attacking football, allowing them to extend their lead and ultimately win the game with a final score of 44-16.
Along with the controversial penalty try, the game also featured a physical battle in the middle between the big men, where the Raiders missed the contribution of their suspended player Josh Papalii.
The Raiders will now look to regroup before heading to Brisbane to tackle the Dolphins next Saturday night.
