    Ricky Stuart has warned there could be more of this to come, asking for patience with his young side.

    The Canberra Raiders coach took the 40-0 loss to the Sharks hard and felt for the 15,820 fans who turned up to Canberra Stadium on Sunday.

    Injuries to key players meant he's been forced to play the youngest ever halves-fullback combination in the Green Machine's history, Stuart admitting he didn't expect to have to play so many young players together this early in the season.

    "It's very hard to sum up something that happened ten minutes ago," he told reporters.

    The Raiders were outplayed by a top-of-the-table Sharks side who handed in arguably their best performance of the season.

    Unsurprisingly, Stuart struck a dejected figure in his post-match press conference, preferring not to elaborate too much on the "embarrassing" defeat.

    Few have experienced the highs and lows of rugby league like Raiders coach Ricky Stuart.

    Never has that been more true than in Canberra's abysmal 40-0 loss to Cronulla in Stuart's 500th game as an NRL coach on Sunday.

    Stuart was quick to the point after the match, labelling his team's performance "embarrassing".

    "Too many missed tackles, there was a lot of very poor football," Stuart said. "I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful to you guys [with short answers], I don't really feel like dwelling on much of it at the moment."
