Canberra Raiders face Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, Zac Hosking injured, Ata Mariota replaces.

    LeagueNews.co

The Green Machine, aka the Canberra Raiders, have locked in their squad to face the Brisbane Broncos at the legendary Suncorp Stadium this Saturday night.

Unfortunately, Zac Hosking's shoulder injury has put him on the sidelines for the next 6-8 weeks, with a decision pending on possible surgery after meeting with specialists.

In his place, Ata Mariota will step up to start in the second row, joined by Simi Sasagi who impressed in his debut against the Eels.

The line-up for this crucial clash remains the same as their victorious game against the Titans in round six, with Sebastian Kris and Xavier Savage providing the attacking spark in the backline.

Young forward Ata Mariota has opportunity to secure starting spot due to injuries, shining potential.

    The Canberra Times

A huge opportunity awaits young wrecking ball forward Ata Mariota, with the Canberra Raiders' second-row injuries opening the door for him to cement a spot in the starting lineup in the coming weeks.

Mariota was named to start in place of Zac Hosking for the Raiders' Saturday night showdown against the Broncos in Brisbane, with Simi Sasagi added to the bench as the only other change from last weekend's squad.

It will be just the sixth start for Mariota since making his Raiders debut last season, and only his second NRL start in the back-row.

    The Canberra Times

The NRL has axed the referee at the centre of a war of words between veteran coaches Des Hasler and Ricky Stuart as the fallout continues after a tense golden-point clash.

Kasey Badger has been demoted from her on-field role for round seven. She will be a touch judge in the Dragons-Warriors game on Friday before taking a place in the bunker for the Raiders-Broncos game on Saturday.

NRL head of football Graham Annesley on Monday conceded Badger missed a crucial offside call that should have gone against the Canberra Raiders in golden point on Sunday night.
