Speed kills. And the Canberra Raiders now boast one of the fastest, but also most inexperienced, back three in the NRL.

With Chevy Stewart's inclusion at fullback to face the Gold Coast Titans on Sunday, Ricky Stuart has created a Green Speed Machine at the back.

You could extend that to the entire Raiders back five that will run out on Canberra Stadium, when you throw in young gun centres Matt Timoko and Sebastian Kris.

Canberra players are urging their fans to be patient when the side unleashes 18-year-old rising star Chevy Stewart for his NRL debut this weekend.

With veteran back Jordan Rapana (knee surgery) out for around two months, Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has turned to the much-hyped teenager to fill in at fullback, starting with Sunday's home game against the Gold Coast.

But despite electric NSW Cup form, his more-seasoned teammates are warning some growing pains could well be experienced on Stewart's path to becoming a first-grade regular.

18-year-old Chevy Stewart debuts as fullback for Raiders after injuries to Rapana and Horsburgh.

18-year-old Chevy Stewart will make his NRL debut after being named at fullback for the Raiders clash with the Titans in Canberra on Sunday evening.

The exciting teenager has impressed at NSW Cup level and will replace Jordan Rapana who is set to miss 6-8 weeks and will undergo minor surgery to repair a meniscus tear he sustained in last week's 41-8 victory over Parramatta.

Rapana left the field early in contest and could hardly put any weight on his knee. He miraculously returned to the field in the second half and managed to play out the game despite looking sore.
