Corey Harawira-Naera, the hard-hitting second-rower for the Canberra Raiders, is facing a tough tackle as his NRL career hangs in the balance.

Following a scary medical incident on the field in mid-2023, Harawira-Naera has been sidelined from all playing and training activities as he seeks a second medical opinion.

The incident, which saw Harawira-Naera suffer an on-field seizure during a clash against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, left fans and teammates shaken.

Despite receiving clearance to increase his training intensity, challenges remain for the forward as he copes with a defibrillator inserted in his chest to manage an underlying heart condition believed to have triggered the seizure.

'Rapa doesn't preserve his own body': Stuart lauds milestone man's toughness

Ricky Stuart hails competitive nature of Jordan Rapana, returning from head injury with metal plate.

    The Canberra Times

Jordan Rapana's one of the most competitive players Ricky Stuart has coached.

It's why the evergreen fullback didn't think twice about putting his body on the line when he returned from a sickening head fracture that required a metal plate and 60 stitches to fix.

Rapana also could have suffered brain damage if he'd received another knock in the same spot to where an accidental head clash left an indentation just above his right eye back in 2014.

‘He was 19, but looked 50’: The Sharks cult hero with a nickname for the ages

Paul Gallen nicknamed Tom Hazelton "40-20" for looking much older than his actual age. Hazelton to start due to Sharks' injury crisis.

    The Sydney Morning Herald

Cronulla legend Paul Gallen gave Tom Hazelton the nickname "40-20" - because he looked 40 when he was only 20 years old.

"And even when I gave him that nickname, he was only 19 but actually looked 50," Gallen said.

Hazelton is the Cronulla cult hero who sends fans wild every time he gets ready to take the field or trots off after a handy stint in the middle.

But with the Sharks facing a major injury crisis in their forward stocks - six players with a combined 610 games of NRL experience are unavailable for Sunday's clash at PointsBet Stadium against Canberra's monster pack - Hazelton will start for the first time in his career.
