Hudson Young finds method in the madness for long-awaited State of Origin arrival
Hudson Young's unique journey lead to his 2023 State of Origin debut after years of anticipation.

It's not often a forward takes three years and four series to truly arrive in State of Origin, but for Hudson Young, it's just one more thing he doesn't do like everyone else.

The Canberra backrower made his Origin debut back in 2023 and played six matches across the next three series for limited minutes amid bit-part bench appearances.

It's easy to see why he was picked for an impact role. There are few backrowers like Young - he's not only quick and strong, he's got plenty of skill and he's brave or crazy enough to use it.

Young can run a strong line, put on a mean shot and go all day but he's also willing to kick for himself and others, or throw a flick pass when the defence least expects it, or jump into first receiver and fire the ball wide from deep in his own half.

However, reports from The Daily Telegraph indicate that Moses could potentially make a return for the second game of the series, as he is projected to be sidelined for two to three weeks.
This injury marks yet another setback for Moses, whose Origin journey has often been marred by physical challenges.

Blues hero Nathan Cleary says stunning performance not yet enough to silence his critics
Nathan Cleary remains unfazed by critics, aiming to prove himself in State of Origin despite past doubts and recent successes.

Blues halfback Nathan Cleary fears the negative doubters who relentlessly question his ability to dominate State of Origin will remain vocal until he can lead NSW to this year's series.
Despite a match-of-the-match performance in Sydney, Cleary declared: "I really don't care (but) the narrative might still be there because at the end of the day the series isn't won. I want to stand up in those big moments."
Cleary's final 20 minutes against a 12-man Queensland side was stunning.
He scored a solo try after securing a vital 40-20 and then bombed for James Tedesco's famous matchwinning try. A first half grubber kick also allowed Hudson Young to score.
Yet critics and detractors continue to dispute whether Cleary has totally conquered State of Origin.

A NSW selection dilemma looms for the second State of Origin match, but Blues coach Laurie Daley insists Mitch Moses will be back in the team if fit.
For a second time in three Origin matches, five-eighth Moses needed to be replaced at the 11th hour after injuring himself during Blues camp.
Elevated from the bench with only two days' notice, debutant Ethan Strange was integral to the Blues' comeback from 20-0 down and eventual 22-20 win against the odds.
Most notably, Strange put Stephen Crichton into a hole down the left side and then backed his centre up to cross for the first of the Blues' three second-half tries.
