Fifty scouts, 28 fields, 38 ground staff, an onsite school, seven full-time teachers, five full-time chefs all to recruit eight-year-olds.

It's fair to say the academy programs of English Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal are on a completely different scale to the Canberra Raiders.

Not to mention that Chelsea made more than $504 million from selling academy products in the past three years alone.

Canberra Raiders sign promising young talent Saxon Innes from Brisbane Broncos for pre-season training.

Less than a week after announcing the acquisition of remarkable talent Coby Black, the Canberra Raiders have added another promising young player from the Brisbane Broncos: Saxon Innes.

Innes, who has been the starting fullback in the Under-20s NRLQ Series for the Broncos, will bring his skills to the Raiders, signing a lower-grade contract that allows him to train with the first-grade squad during the pre-season.

Renowned for his exceptional speed and impressive footwork, Innes enjoyed a standout season in the 2025 Mal Meninga Cup and made two appearances in the QLD Cup at the end of the 2024 season.

Less than a week after confirming the arrival of generational talent Coby Black, the Canberra Raiders have secured another talented young gun from the Brisbane Broncos system.

The starting fullback in the Under-20s NRLQ Series for the Broncos, Saxon Innes has decided to take his talents to the nation's capital and agreed to a lower-grade contract with the Raiders, which includes training with the first-grade squad during the pre-season.

A member of the Under-19s Queensland Maroons Emerging State of Origin squad, the Marsden State High School graduate was previously considered as a key part of the Broncos' future generation, but his pathway was blocked by Reece Walsh, who is still only in his early 20s.
