    Raiders captain Joe Tapine confirms a new deal through 2028, aiming to finish his career in Canberra for family reasons.

    Joe Tapine is staying with Canberra and hopes to finish his career in the capital city.

    The Raiders captain ended speculation about his future by confirming a new deal that will see him through to the end of 2028.

    Speaking to reporters on Friday, Tapine said he also had the option to remain with the Green Machine in 2029.

    But by then he will be 35, probably making this contract his last.

And we know the ACT government has the Bruce blinkers on and says it won't consider Civic as a viable option, despite the existing stadium crumbling around us.

    Locked in: Government finally announces plans for Canberra Stadium upgrade

    Canberra Stadium redevelopment announced, addressing long-standing issues, with construction expected by 2050.

    After complaints of bad smells, leaky roofs, poor Wi-Fi, smashed glass and years of frustration from fans, the ACT Government has finally announced plans for a redeveloped Canberra Stadium in 2056.

    The state of Canberra Stadium has been in the spotlight recently, with Raiders coach Ricky Stuart summing up the thoughts of many locals by describing it as "sh!thou$e".

    The project is currently in "early pre-consultation consultation phase", with the government set to seek community feedback as early as 2038. Once that feedback is immediately disregarded, a thorough review of the consultation phase will be conducted in 2046, with construction set to begin in 2050.
