'Dedicate this to Lily': Papa reveals 'special' tribute as Raiders farewell tour begins
Josh Papali'i dedicates his farewell game to a young superfan, Lily, inspiring him after a long injury absence.

Josh Papali'i's emotional farewell tour begins this weekend in Sydney, and ahead of kick-off the veteran revealed more details about his plans after this last season with the Raiders.
Saturday night's game against the Bulldogs has extra meaning for Papali'i after he heard about 11-year-old superfan Lily Thomson, who cried when she found out this would be the prop's final campaign in green.
Lily has autism and an intellectual disability and has developed a great passion for the Raiders, fuelled by a friendship with coach Ricky Stuart after her mother Maria wrote to the club.
Papali'i's youngest son Joshua also has autism, as does Stuart's daughter Emma.

'No one gives us a chance': underdog Raiders chasing historic club first
The Canberra Raiders NRLW squad, underdogs, impressively starts their 2026 campaign, aiming for their first finals run after defeating St George.

That's no different for the NRLW squad, and they're using it to take rivals by surprise and make their first ever finals run, as the Raiders prepare to face the New Zealand Warriors in a standalone home-opener on Sunday.
The women's Green Machine team are riding high after an impressive start to their 2026 campaign, defeating St George Illawarra Dragons 20-4 at Kogarah in round one last weekend.
An outstanding debut from new fullback recruit Sheridan Gallagher, a strong team-wide defensive display, and a try for veteran forward Simaima Taufa in her 50th NRLW game were among the highlights.

Hudson Young charged by MRC for Origin 3 dangerous throw as others learn fate
Hudson Young faces a Grade 1 dangerous throw charge for a tackle during Game 3 of the 2026 State of Origin series.

NSW Blues and Canberra Raiders second-rower Hudson Young has been slapped with a Grade 1 dangerous throw charge by the NRL's match review committee, but is the only player charged during Game 3 of the 2026 State of Origin series.
Young was placed on report in the fifth minute of the game for a dangerous throw on Jojo Fifita, where he tipped well above the horizontal.
The Grade 1 charge will see Young fined 7 per cent of his match fees with an early guilty plea, or risk 10 per cent by fronting the judiciary.
Young was also likely worried about a high shot later in the first half, as he hit a falling Kalyn Ponga taking a catch.
