    Eels coach Brad Arthur has come out swinging after the Raiders 26-18 win in Canberra on Saturday night.

    Since a 53-12 loss in round 5, the Raiders have won five straight as well as having a bye to romp into the top eight.

    Canberra are inside the NRL's top eight for the first time in 2023 after seeing off Parramatta 26-18 in an NRL contest that has left two State of Origin candidates sweating the judiciary's charge sheet.

    In freezing conditions, the Raiders made it five straight wins in their best showing of the season, three tries in each half helping them hold off the Eels.

    It leaves them 6-4 for the season and only two competition points from top spot, continuing a brilliant run to respond to a tough 1-4 start to the year.

    With a "dumb" swing of his arm Corey Horsburgh opened up some old wounds with Ryan Matterson on Saturday night.

    The man nicknamed 'Big Red' is known to wear his heart on his sleeve, and it's often helped him play his best footy too.

    But perhaps the scars of Horsburgh's infamous teary, feisty outburst at Matterson in 2020 were inflamed again at Canberra Stadium, because the Raiders lock made the definition of a bee-line to his Parramatta opponent after a push-and-shove.
