Brad Fittler faces a huge decision on whether to pick in-form
Sharks star Nicho Hynes in the halves
over incumbent Jarome Luai and the call could also determine his own Origin future. Hynes has returned in 2023 in phenomenal form and the 26-year-old stole the show again as the Sharks defeated the Roosters 22-12 on the weekend.

The
NRL
playmaker's heroics came after he inked a contract extension last week that's reportedly worth around $7 million and will keep him at the Sharks until the end of 2029. Hynes is knocking on the door of Blues selection with many NRL experts calling for the Sharks player to be given a chance.

Canberra Raiders star Jack Wighton has revealed why he decided to announce his shock retirement from representative football, effective immediately.

“I’m very content with everything I’ve done for NSW and Australia. I’m actually very proud of wearing those jerseys.

“Now I want to focus on winning a premiership and having a bit more family time. That’s all this is about.”

Wighton said he hold no ill will towards Blues coach Brad Fittler saying he has “nothing but respect for Freddy” and that “he really wants that cleared up.”

Fittler didn’t select the 2020 Dally M medalist in Game 3 of last year’s Origin series despite winning man-of-the match in Game 1.
