Canterbury comeback cruels Canberra in cracking contest

Canberra dominated early, leading 10-0 as Bulldogs struggled with discipline and decision-making.

It was the ultimate tale of two halves. Canberra came out of the blocks strong and within four minutes capitalised on some sloppy discipline and defence from the Bulldogs with Zac Hosking scoring near the posts.

The visitors struggled to get their hands on the footy and kept making poor decisions with and without the ball. Canberra fullback Kaeo Weekes found his way through some of that poor defending and the Raiders were up 10-0 before the quarter-mark of the game.

Canterbury topped the NRL after a comeback against Canberra, winning 32-20 and securing eight victories.

Canterbury have cemented their spot at the top of the NRL ladder after a Stephen Crichton-led comeback negated a first-half masterclass by the second-placed Canberra Raiders.

The Bulldogs scored 32 unanswered points to overturn a 20-point deficit at halftime and silence the GIO Stadium faithful on Saturday afternoon.

The 32-20 win puts Canterbury four points clear at the top of the league, with eight wins from nine matches.

    Wide World of Sports

Jaeman Salmon has reignited his feud with Raiders coach Ricky Stuart by seemingly mouthing "weak-gutted dog" to the broadcast cameras after scoring for the Bulldogs.

The feud emerged in 2022 when Salmon struck Tom Starling with a kick and injured the Raiders hooker.

Stuart then stated post-match: "I've had history with that kid. I know that kid very well. He was a weak-gutted dog as a kid and he hasn't changed now. He's a weak-gutted dog person now".
