    Brisbane Broncos

Josh Papalii faces suspension after a high shot on Sam Hughes during the Raiders vs. Bulldogs game.

    Wide World of Sports

Raiders veteran Josh Papalii is all but certain to spend a stint on the sidelines after a brutal high shot on Bulldogs prop Sam Hughes.

Midway through the first half of Thursday night's clash at GIO Stadium, Papalii shot out of the line and collected Hughes with a massive shot from the kick-off.

Hughes reeled out of the tackle and players from both teams came in for a brief scuffle, before referee Adam Gee blew time off and things settled down.

Papalii was then called out by the on-field official and sent for 10 minutes - but it easily could have been worse for the Green Machine.

    Brisbane Broncos

The six-again ruling sparks debate over officiating, but Canberra's coach supports its implementation for maintaining game momentum.

The new six-again ruling has only been in effect for two rounds and it has already copped heat, with pundits and fans fearing the game is being over-officiated.

But Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has no issue with the way six-agains are being called.

The definition of what determines a six-again ruling was revised over the off-season, with the NRL changing the call in a bid to keep the ball in play for longer during games.

"They say defence wins competitions ... now pretty much it is whoever can stop momentum wins competitions," he said on The Continuous Call Team's Offload podcast.
