    Canberra Raiders' Tom Starling raises funds for childhood friend with severe spinal injury.

    This off-season, Canberra Raiders star Tom Starling wasn't just busy training for his upcoming NRL campaign, he's also been rallying the community to help out a childhood mate in the fight of his life.

    Starling has leaned on his sporting connections to try and raise funds for good friend, Patrick Wheatley, who tragically suffered a severe spinal injury falling off a horse on his Central Coast property in July last year.

    With Roosters star Connor Watson, the Raiders hooker, his family and a few Central Coast friends put together a collection of sporting memorabilia to auction off and raise funds for Wheatley's recovery.

    Parramatta Eels NRLW recruit Paige Travis, Canberra Raiders NRLW standout Hollie-Mae Dodd, and Newcastle Knights NRLW playmaker Georgia Roche have all earned their spots to don the red and white for England.

    The squad is stacked with talent from the Women's Super League, ready to roll up their sleeves and give those Jillaroos a run for their money.

    Unfortunately, crafty veteran Millie Elliott won't be lacing up her boots for the Aussies.
