Wife of Raiders milestone man cops 10-year ban for brawl involvement

Josh Papali'i's wife Masepa banned from local games for 10 years after entering field during brawl.

Raiders enforcer Josh Papali'i's wife Masepa has been handed a huge ban from local Canberra rugby league games for 10 years.

At Belmore, the much-loved gentle giant will become just the third Raider to notch 300 games for the club, alongside Jason Croker and Jarrod Croker.

According to reports from Channel Nine's Wide World of Sports, the sanction came after she allegedly entered the field when a brawl broke out during play, with video of the incident widely circulated on social media.

The incident comes just days before husband Josh is set to play his 300th first grade game against the Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground this Sunday.

The ban only applies to the local Canberra league, meaning she will be free to watch her husband play his milestone match this weekend.

Fogarty knew Papali'i's milestone video would include his embarrassing ankle tap incident.

    The Canberra Times

Jamal Fogarty must have known the stitch up was coming. Because even after 299 games over 13 years, thousands of hit ups, plenty of tackles and 63 tries, there's only one Josh Papali'i highlight his teammates wanted to see.

The Raiders paid tribute to milestone man Papali'i on Wednesday morning with a tribute video in the team meeting.

"It was about 8.15am," Fogarty said. "It would have been about the third clip and the whole room started laughing. It's a lowlight for myself, and a highlight for Papa to run down a slow half. He's scored 63 tries and they show an ankle tap."
