    Raiders make one change for crucial Cowboys clash

    Canberra Raiders boosted by Hudson Young's return from State of Origin for clash against Cowboys.

    The Canberra Raiders are boosted by Hudson Young's return from State of Origin, with the NSW Blues forward the only change to Ricky Stuart's side.

    Hudson comes straight back into the second row, with Ata Mariota dropping back to the bench and Simi Sasagi dropping out of the 17.

    It means Stuart will have a reasonably settled side for their big clash against the North Queensland Cowboys at Canberra Stadium on Friday night.

    Jotham Russell pursues NFL dream with New England Patriots, previously considered playing for Raiders.

    If Jotham Russell wasn't at an NFL training camp with the New England Patriots right now, he'd be here in Canberra, playing for the Raiders and chasing a shot at the NRL.

    The 20-year-old is on a "rollercoaster ride" in the US, after being signed to the Patriots as part of the NFL's international pathway program, where he is able to try and earn a spot on the roster before the 2024 season kicks off in September.

    But before Canberra-born Russell made the decision to pursue the NFL, he was living in the Bush Capital, on the verge of playing for his hometown team, the Raiders.

    There was a lot of excitement over the weekend as reports suggested the Canberra Raiders were locked in to be in Las Vegas for next season's double-header opener.

    On Monday, the NRL pumped the brakes a bit, unable to confirm the Raiders were green-lit for Sin City, but The Canberra Times understands league bosses hope to officially announce the four teams involved later this month.
