    The Canberra Raiders have moved to lockdown one of their rising stars in a major boost as they look to get their NRL season back on track.

    Raiders centre Matt Timoko has re-signed for one more year, with options for another two, keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2026.

    Timoko has emerged as one of the best centres in the NRL over the past two seasons, forcing his way into the New Zealand team last year off the back of it.

    Boom 24-year-old Matt Timoko, the club's 2021 Rookie of the Year is becoming one of the most exciting centres in the competition and has sealed his future for the Green Machine by signing on until 2026, with an option in the deal to extend until 2028.

    It's a huge coup for the club, which is attempting to rebuild into a premiership contender after Jack Wighton's exit signalled the end of a successful era that peaked with a tight grand final loss to the Roosters in 2019.

    New Zealand centre Matt Timoko has re-signed with the Canberra Raiders until the end of 2026, with an option for a further two seasons.

    The 24-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise into the NRL, with 20 tries in his 64 appearances to date, capping off a superb season in 2023 with selection for New Zealand.

    Timoko has been one of Canberra's best players over the last two seasons and has started 2024 in fine form. The powerful centre is averaging 155 run metres per contest, has had 11 tackle breaks, 2 line breaks, 2 try assists and a try in four games this year.
