    The Canberra Raiders have reportedly been left fuming after a Cronulla Sharks trainer ran right next to goalkicker Jamal Fogarty as he was lining up an all-important kick on Sunday night.

    The Raiders blew an 18-point lead after 23 minutes to fall 30-18 behind after 62 minutes.

    But the visitors hit back through winger James Shiller in the 71st minute, leaving Fogarty with a tough sideline conversion to bring the match back to a converted try difference.

    Raiders to lodge formal complaint with NRL over Sharks trainer

    Canberra to complain about NRL incident involving Sharks trainer affecting conversion attempt. Meeting Tuesday.

    Canberra will lodge a formal complaint with the NRL on Tuesday over an incident in Sunday night's defeat to Cronulla that calls the Sharks' sportsmanship into question.

    The Raiders are upset after Sharks trainer Daniel Holdsworth ran through the line of sight of halfback Jamal Fogarty as he was moving in to attempt a conversion. With Cronulla up 30-22 at the time, the two points would have reduced the deficit to six with eight minutes remaining - but Fogarty's kick hit the upright.

    The NRL is aware of the incident and will discuss whether there is a case for the Sharks to answer at their end-of-round football review on Tuesday...

    Former Canberra Raiders captain David Shillington has called on the team's leaders to step up as they look to move on from Sunday's embarrassing loss to the Sharks.

    The Raiders jumped out to an 18-0 lead after 24 minutes before imploding to concede 30-straight points and ultimately lose 36-22.

    The loss left coach Ricky Stuart furious with his team's performance after they were outplayed by an undermanned Cronulla side.
