The Tigers arrive in Newcastle full of confidence after a gritty 30-22 win over the Warriors. Lara Rogan starred with a double, while their ability to absorb pressure and capitalise on opportunities proved decisive. 

Newcastle, meanwhile, suffered a frustrating 25-18 loss to Canberra despite leading at half-time. The Knights showed plenty of attacking promise but were unable to contain the Raiders' second-half surge.

The minor premiership race is between just three teams with three rounds remaining and it's set to come right down to the wire.

The Roosters, Panthers and Warriors have been the clear standouts this season and at this point in time, it's hard to make much of a case for any other team lifting the premiership trophy on the first Sunday in October.

While nabbing top spot isn't the be-all and end-all as the Raiders showed last year when bundled out in straight sets, it does provide the winning club with a handy $200,000 cash injection.

In context of the finals series though, earning the minor premiership could be crucial this season as it'll likely ensure that team will avoid either the Panthers, Roosters or Warriors in the qualifying final in Week 1.

It probably goes without saying though that finishing up inside the top two is a more important achievement given those teams will get at least two home finals during the postseason.
