Indianna Carroll, whose father Mark 'Spudd' Carroll played 202 NRL games while also representing NSW and Australia, was among 14 rookie cheerleaders chosen by the Raiders.

And Indianna had to overcome endometriosis to achieve her American dream.

Las Vegas trialled 334 cheerleaders before cutting that number to 78, then 46, finally settling on a final squad of 30, which included the 14 rookies.

The nine-hour weekly trips that forged Raiders second-rower Noah Martin on path to NRL

Noah Martin's rugby journey involved extensive travel; now, he faces ankle surgery after a tough match against the Tigers.

    The Australian

Many NRL dreams are built from countless hours in the gym and on the training paddock. Noah Martin's road to success came in a car.

Canberra's boom second rower may be ruled out for an extended period, requiring surgery on both ankles after his game against the Tigers last Thursday.

However, the young gun has never had it easy in his journey to getting on the footy field.

Martin, 21, spent more time travelling to training and games than he did playing in them.

After moving around Australia with his parents and two brothers, the family eventually settled in Eden on the NSW South Coast.

Titans v Raiders: Brimson back on deck; Hosking, Martin out

Titans face Raiders in Round 9; Brimson returns, while Hosking and Martin are out. Both teams seek revival from disappointing starts.

    NRL.com

Two sides with much loftier ambitions than their current 13th and 14th positions will shape up in Round 9 in a clash that will signal the start of a revival for either the Titans or Raiders.

After claiming last year's minor premiership the Raiders have managed just three wins across the opening eight rounds while the Titans have won just two games under new coach Josh Hannay.

The trek to Cbus Super Stadium will hold few fears for the Green Machine as they boast an 8-7 record in matches at the venue since 2008, including a 30-20 win in Round 7 last year.
